Sara O’Keefe is an artist from Lexington, KY. She is active in the band Eyes & Arms of Smoke and the surreal performance group Auk Theatre (established by Irene Moon) and appears on recordings by those bands. She has collaborated with a wide variety of musicians from Lied Music’s John Fail to Burning Star-Core’s Spencer Yeh to deep listening guru Pauline Oliveros. Sara’s solo performances draw on elements of hazy psychedelia and the minimal, homegrown abstraction of Fluxus. She implements intricately deceptive optics and layered, shifting music that alternates from haunted howls to zoned-out percussion scraping, complimented by mournful woodwind melodies.
