About

The Transmodern Performance Festival

This year marks the 11th anniversary of  The Transmodern Performance Festival, located in Baltimore, Maryland. The Transmodern Festival is a cultural phenomenon presenting radical, experimental, expectation-defying work from  local, national and international artists. The Festival’s mission is to represent communities and artists who defy cultural normative practices and disciplines from Baltimore and beyond.

UNDERWORLD

In keeping with the festival’s exploration of in-between spaces this years theme UNDERWORLD examines the space between the known and the unknown. Inspired by the transitory nature of the un-life in ancient mythology the 2014  Transmodern Festival explores the shadowy territory of the Limbo State.

Limbo:
a. place or state of  chaos and oblivion

b. an intermediate or transitional place or state

c .  a state of uncertainty
